About the position

As an inspector with us at the authority and traffic department, you will monitor that closures on public land, restorations, excavations, and other uses of public land are carried out in accordance with the decisions made by the Technical and Service Committee. The work involves exercising authority and primarily consists of being out in the field to ensure that the necessary permits are in place and that work is carried out according to decisions. The work also includes being a contact person for contractors who have questions about their closures or land leases. In your role, you will be part of a group consisting of 15 people, including one colleague in a similar role, along with colleagues who are both case handlers and traffic engineers. We expect that you, as an applicant, want to work with authority in a role where you are there for the citizens, want to collaborate with colleagues, have an unpretentious attitude, and want to develop together with your colleagues in the workgroup.

Examples of tasks:

  • monitoring excavations and restorations after excavations and works
  • processing of excavation permits
  • coordination of closures
  • monitoring closures on public land
  • follow-up of approved traffic plans
  • investigative work and documentation related to penalty requirements

About the workplace

The Street and Traffic Unit, which the Authority and Traffic group is part of, is responsible for local traffic regulations, traffic safety, traffic signals, signage, parking monitoring, as well as granting permits and exercising authority within the area of operation. We strive for active employee participation, which means taking responsibility for the whole and working in teams to develop one's own and employees' competencies.

The Street and Traffic Unit belongs to the Park and Street operation, which is part of the Technical and Service Administration. The administration consists of over 600 employees and is responsible for a broad and socially important function throughout Örebro Municipality. We manage the municipality's streets, roads, pedestrian and bicycle paths, squares, parks, and green areas. The administration is also responsible for water and sewage operations, waste management, and the municipality's food production for preschools, schools, and residences. In addition, we produce and sell biogas and are responsible for the municipality's vehicle fleet and internal mail handling.

Qualifications

You are an inspector with the ability to see the big picture and understand how various decisions affect operations and the public space. You work in a structured manner, plan and prioritize your work effectively, and ensure that deadlines and requirements are met. You have extensive contacts with both internal and external actors as well as citizen contact, which requires good collaboration skills and a professional approach. You communicate clearly and adapt your way of expressing yourself according to the situation and audience.

You have an analytical ability that allows you to handle complex issues, identify deviations, and contribute to well-founded solutions. Your judgment is sound, and you can weigh different types of information to make correct and responsible decisions in both routine and more demanding situations.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Requirements:

  • high school and relevant post-secondary education such as YH education
  • documented experience in a similar position
  • training in APV (work on roads)
  • good experience working in operational systems
  • driver's license B

Meritorious:

  • knowledge of excavation and digging
  • experience and knowledge of traffic arrangement plans
  • experience in exercising authority
  • experience working in a politically governed organization
  • good knowledge of English
